IN THE NAME OF THE LORD AMEN. In eternal memory of the matter. Since, due to the changing course of time, the deeds of mortals not only undergo change but frequently fade away, human foresight, intending to provide lasting testimony to an event, has foreseen their preservation through the signs of writing. Therefore WE, STANISŁAW SŁOMOWSKI of Czechów, by the grace of God Archbishop of the holy Metropolitan Church of Lviv, hereby announce to all and each person concerned through this our letter: That although amidst all our cares, when the duty of our pastoral office requires it, we willingly direct our mind toward that same consideration through which the worship of God is multiplied and the salvation of the Catholic people is solicitously cared for, yet above all, that which tends toward the benefit of the chapter of our aforementioned Metropolitan Church and toward the salvation of our soul, we by no means intend to omit, but rather, we put every effort into it with diligent care and concern. Observing, therefore, that the common table of the prelates and canons and the entire chapter of our aforementioned Church is endowed with meager income and supported by very few foundational privileges, and especially considering that we have benefited from their labor and salutary counsel in acquiring, obtaining, and recovering goods detached from our above-written Church and in making their benefits greater and richer – and in particular the lake or pond of Malczyce, which without any right, by force and power, was taken away from the archiepiscopal goods and estates due to the negligence of some of our predecessors by certain Lviv starosts – moved by steadfast love and kindness, by every best method, way, law, and form by which we could most and best, and were and are permitted to, not having succumbed to violence, deceit, fear, or any other machination, but from our undoubted knowledge and free and voluntary will, and not through any error of law or fact, by us and our successors purely, absolutely, simply, irrevocably, and among the living – so that this donation could not be revoked or invalidated for any reason of ingratitude, alimentation, or any other cause – by our own right and for eternity we have given, donated, transferred, and by title of a pure, free, and simple donation, irrevocable, usually made among the living, we have granted, and we give, donate, transfer, and grant to our venerable brothers, the lord dean, the canons, and the entire chapter of our above-mentioned Metropolitan Church IN THE NAME OF GOD hereby the monetary tithe, commonly called 'biskupizna' (Episcopalia), once granted to the Lviv archbishops by the Most Serene Kings of Poland, namely from the city of Lviv and the villages belonging to it and adjacent to it: Kleparów, Kulparków, Zamarstynów, Hołosko, falling due from each hide at twelve broad groschen. Giving and granting to the aforementioned chapter the authority to demand, collect, receive, and issue receipts for said monetary tithe from the inhabitants of the said city and villages by virtue of this our donation and grant, as well as to appear in court and pursue rights on its account, to do everything and each thing individually, to continue all judicial actions and proceedings according to custom; and also to use the collected, received, and gathered [tithe] for their own use according to the order described below and to do and perform everything and individually what would be necessary or in any way useful in the above scope, just as we ourselves could have done before this our donation and grant. Under this specific manner, law, and conditions: that the aforementioned dean, canons, and the entire Lviv chapter, during our lifetime, annually on the day after [...] the feast of Corpus Christi, around the altar of Corpus Christi located in the middle of the church, together with the vicars of the same church, shall piously sing a mass for our sins, and on every feast day throughout the year they shall recite the canonical antiphon: Ne reminiscaris Domine etc., the psalm: Miserere mei Deus etc., De profundis etc. together with a collect for sins. And when the release of our soul from the bonds of the body occurs, they shall be obliged and compelled to beg and entreat the most merciful God for this our soul in this way, namely: that one of the prelates and canons shall celebrate a mass called Requiem at the same altar of Corpus Christi, with the usual prayers contained in the missal, and shall sing it together with the vicars in the choir according to established custom. And above all, each of the resting canons shall first recite this antiphon: Do not deliver, O Lord, to the beasts the soul of your archbishop Stanisław Słomowski who confesses You, and do not forget his soul forever, give him rest in the place of [...] indulgence, with the verse: From the gates of hell etc. deliver, O Lord, the soul of this our deceased archbishop. Adding then the sixth psalm: O Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger [...] repeating the said antiphon. Then saying: Kyrie eleison, with the Lord's Prayer Our Father etc. Ending with this single prayer: Forgive, we beseech You, O Lord God, the soul of Your servant Stanisław, our archbishop, from all sins, so that having died to the world he may live for You, and what he committed through the frailty of the body in human intercourse, do You wipe away by the forgiveness of Your most merciful pity. Deliver it from all purgatorial torment, so that it may be acknowledged by You yourself, the living and true God. And may this soul of his rejoice before Your face, and do not remember his former iniquities, which the heat of evil desire aroused. Be mindful of this soul in the glory of Your brightness, may the heavens open to it, may Your holy Angels come out to meet it and rejoice with it, and may they lead it into the heavenly City of Jerusalem, may the glorious Virgin Mary together with all the Apostles and other saints and God's chosen ones assist it with their prayers, so that freed from the bonds of sins it may deserve to reach the glory of the heavenly Kingdom, through our Lord Jesus Christ, who with the Father and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns for ever and ever, Amen. Finally, at the ultimate conclusion, each of them shall say: Let us bless the Lord, thanks be to God, with: May the souls of all the faithful departed, together with the soul of this man, Archbishop Stanisław Słomowski, rest in holy peace, Amen. When this is done, then the said chapter, that is, the Lviv prelates and canons, from the presented tithe, that is, the capitular [tithe], shall give the church bell-ringers fifteen groschen for ringing the bells. To the lords vicars fifteen groschen, to the poor who will be present at this mass at that time, they shall give fifteen groschen, one shilling to each of them, and if anything remains, let it be transferred to the hospital of lesser provision. The remaining part of the money, the lords prelates and canons currently present shall divide among themselves in equal parts, always [...] not forgetting about us, their good and kind brother. In faith and testimony of all this and the individual matters above, we have ordered and caused this our letter to be written and signed by the notary signed below and in our presence the scribe of these acts and actions, and strengthened with his seal and the impression of our seal. This was done in Lviv, in the house of our usual residence, located in the Lviv court, in the Year of our Lord one thousand five hundred and seventy-fourth, in the second indiction, in the third year of the pontificate of the most holy father and our lord in Christ, lord Gregory the thirteenth by divine providence Pope, on Wednesday, the ninth day of the month of June, in the presence of the then and there born and noble lords Stanisław Carsonsski, Jan Rzajolski, Jan Wremieski, Jan Tabiecki, Adam Dobrzyński, our household members, and other witnesses called and requested. [Autograph signature of the archbishop:] The same Stanisław, archbishop as above, signed with his own hand [monogram/paraph] [Notarial sign in the form of a stylized tree with a pelican feeding its chicks and three flowers, on ribbons inscriptions: I.N.R.I. / The unjust witness shall perish / MARIA / D.D.] [Notarial subscription:] I, Jerzy, son of Jan, Miliński from Drohobycz, cleric of the Diocese of Przemyśl, by holy apostolic authority public notary, [at ...] the aforementioned dean of the specified conditions of the monetary donation, and also at the [acceptance of the donation?] by the venerable lords: Stanisław Żochowski, Dean of Lviv, Jan Janczowski, Jakub Barziboloski[?], Marcin Wargocki, Piotr Borzykowski, canons, and the entire aforementioned Lviv chapter [accepted by them...], and at all other and individual matters mentioned above, I was present and saw and heard that it happened with the above-mentioned witnesses thus and not otherwise, therefore I have written and drawn up this [instrument?] with my own hand, and have affixed my usual and accepted sign and name in faith and testimony of all and individual matters, called and requested. Reading notes

Parchment document preserved in good condition, with minor stains and creases. Decorative border on the left side and the initial 'I' made with black ink in the form of a rich interlaced ornament. At the bottom, the preserved seal of Archbishop Stanisław Słomowski (Abdank coat of arms under a miter) pressed in red wax in a natural wax bowl, suspended on a multicolored (blue-red-green-yellow) silk cord. At the bottom left, a drawn notarial sign and the archbishop's autograph signature, next to the subscription of the public notary Jerzy Mielin from Drohobycz. The catalog card incorrectly suggests the granting of rights to the Malczyce lake – in the text, the archbishop explains that he is granting a tithe (episcopalia) to the chapter as a token of gratitude, among other things, for help in recovering the Malczyce lake from the hands of the Lviv starosts.
