Bull of Pope Gregory XIII ordering the vassals of the Lviv church to obey Archbishop Jan

Gregory, Bishop, Servant of the Servants of God, to our beloved sons, all the vassals of the Lviv church, greetings and apostolic blessing. Today, for the Lviv church, then deprived of the comfort of a shepherd due to the death of the late Stanisław, formerly Archbishop of Lviv, who died outside the Roman Curia, upon the advice of our brothers, by apostolic authority, we have concerned ourselves with the person of our beloved son Jan, Archbishop-elect of Lviv, dear to us and our brothers for his merits, and we have appointed him Archbishop and shepherd of the same [church], entrusting to him fully the care and administration of the same church in spiritual and temporal matters, as is more broadly contained in our letters drawn up in this matter. Therefore, we command you all by this apostolic letter to receive the same Jan, the elect, with devotion and to surround him with due respect, and also to strive to show him fully the customary loyalty and the customary services and rights due to him from you. Otherwise, we shall consider the sentence or penalty that the same Jan, the elect, may lawfully issue or establish against rebels to be valid, and with the help of the Lord, we shall ensure that it is inviolably observed until worthy satisfaction is made.
