Translation / modern text
Jan Dymitr Solikowski of Sol[...] by the grace of God and the Apostolic See, Archbishop of Lviv, together with the reverend and venerable prelates and canons of the Metropolitan Church of Lviv, gathered at the general chapter on Reminiscere Sunday. We announce by the wording of this [document] to all and everyone whom it may concern [...]. We consider it glorious to bestow worthy [rewards] upon the well-deserving, especially those whose deeds serve the common good. Since the efforts and merits of the noble Mr. Wojciech Solikowski, our dearest brother, are sufficiently known to us—which he has faithfully and zealously rendered and continues to render to us and our chapter, and thus to our church, for many years, both in the defense and the increase of church property, especially in the renovated Lialichnyky [?] pond and the buildings in our Lialichnyky [?] castle, newly erected at his own expense [...]. Having regard both to his merits and to the sums and expenditures turned to the benefit of the Church, and wishing also to make him more eager to undertake other upcoming burdensome matters of the Church [...], after having held a mature [...] deliberation with our venerable brothers, as is the custom in such cases, by the will and consent of all and each individually, we have deemed it proper to grant and assign the mill with the pond in our town of Siemikowce in the Halych district, as well as the duties or labor services of the Siemikowce townspeople in the amount of two days, and from individual peasants from the village of Meducha eight days, especially summer ones [...], annually rendered to the aforementioned Mr. Solikowski in the village of Siemikowce, until the end of his life, just as we now grant and assign them from this moment on.
With the addition, however, of the condition that the aforementioned Mr. Solikowski shall be obliged to keep the mentioned mill together with the pond in proper condition and under a roof, to remain faithful and serve zealously in the affairs of the Church, especially those of Lviv [?] and Lialichnyky [?], during the duration of the use of the above-mentioned [goods], and shall not cede or in any way dispose of his right to anyone without our knowledge and consent and that of our successors, under penalty of immediate loss and deprivation of this right of his. After his death, both the aforementioned mill and the pond shall return to us and our successors without any hindrance, with the right intact and freely.
In witness and clearer testimony of which, we have signed this [document] with our own hand and [the hand] of the Chapter and ordered it to be strengthened with seals. Done and given in the chapter house, at the general chapter held on Reminiscere Sunday, in the year of our Lord one thousand six hundred and first, on the twenty-fourth day of March.
