WŁADYSŁAW IV By the grace of God, King of Poland, Grand Duke of Lithuania, Ruthenia, Prussia, Masovia, Samogitia, Livonia, etc., and also hereditary King of the Swedes, Goths, and Vandals. We hereby announce to all and everyone whom it may concern. Certain rescripts, concessions, sales, and ordinances of the lords mayor and councilors of our city of Lwów have been presented to us, both issued authentically from the records of that office and no less authentically extracted from the Lwów castle records, in the name and on behalf of the honorable: Cyganek, Stanisław Sołtysz, Albert Szołtyszek, Marcin Szypiotka, Tomasz Weydyl, Andrzej Kupiec, Stanisław Zawil, Stanisław Kobylak, Sebastian Studniak, Krzysztof Węgrzyn, Jan Wołoszyn, Grzegorz Sosnowski, Gabriel Baranek, the widow of Jan Galuszczyn together with her sister Anna, Grzegorz Gallar, Jakub Mucha, Tomasz Kot, Jan Kiszka, the brothers Jan and Jakub Lach together with their sister Anna, Maciej Wawał, Jan Czech, the widow of Albert Szewc, Zofia Żupnicka, Jan Borek, Andrzej Samborski, Maciej Liszkow, Hryćko Steczkowicz, Jan Ciepiela and Paweł Ciepiela, together with Szymon and Andrzej Kobylak, Maciej Ciechkowicz, Grzegorz Krężel, Kasper Wawał, Lwów suburbanites and [holders] of certain hides in the Lwów suburb called Kleparów, according to the share of each of them. And we were requested to graciously approve, ratify, and confirm with our royal authority these same concessions, rescripts, conditions of the Illustrious Council, as well as the ancient rights, customs, immunities, and freedoms of these burghers, as these goods have been disposed of since ancient times, and the said suburbanites have been settled on these hides. We, therefore, acceding to the above request as just and gracious, approve, ratify, and confirm with our royal authority all the above-included concessions, ordinances, rescripts, sales, and exchanges of the Illustrious Council, as well as the ancient rights, freedoms, immunities, and possessions according to the boundaries expressed in those writings of the Illustrious Council, in what pertains to us by the supreme right of Majesty, and we have recognized [...] indeed, as far as they are entitled by law, we approve, ratify, and confirm by this our letter, decreeing that all of them retain the power and authority of perpetual durability, and that in essence the said suburbanites, each of them according to their share and interest, should be peacefully and securely maintained in those hides, provided, however, that they pay the burdens and rents long accepted and usually paid to the municipal treasury, and also perform labor, commonly called szarwark, each of them in the amount of one day per month, and furthermore, that they be obliged to transport sand, stones, and bricks for the repair of city walls and other public works whenever necessity requires, and that they be free from other undue and unaccepted exactions, burdens, and services. And they are obliged to pay the dues of measures, commonly called żołnierszczyzna, on an equal footing with other holders of these hides in Kleparów, without any objection and according to the size of their field shares, each of them, of whatever status and condition they may be, in perpetuity. With the preservation of our royal rights, those of the Commonwealth, and the Catholic Church. In witness whereof, this [letter] signed by our hand has been ordered to be strengthened with the royal seal. Given in Lwów on the 26th day of October in the Year of Our Lord 1634, the second year of our reign in Poland and the third in Sweden.
