IV, by the grace of God, King of Poland, Grand Duke of Lithuania, Ruthenia, Prussia, Masovia, Samogitia, Livonia, Smolensk, Severia and Chernihiv, and also hereditary King of the Swedes, Goths and Vandals.
We hereby announce to all and each person concerned that there has been presented to us, in the name and on behalf of the inhabitants of the Lviv suburb commonly called Biłohorszcze, a certain decree of the late Most Serene Sigismund Augustus, King of Poland, our predecessor, issued in Kraków on the Saturday before the upcoming Sunday of Laetare in the year of our Lord one thousand five hundred and fifty-nine, as well as certain rescripts, acts of sale, and concessions of the distinguished magistrate of the city of Lviv, both to the inhabitants of the aforementioned suburb of Biłohorszcze [erased letters: xxxxx...], and we were humbly requested to approve, ratify, and confirm by our royal authority that decree of the Most Serene King Sigismund Augustus, as well as the same concessions, rescripts, and sales of that distinguished council office, as well as the ancient customs, immunities, and freedoms of these townspeople, just as these goods were long ago organized and the aforementioned suburbanites were settled on those plots. We, therefore, accustomed to justice [---], have decided that the aforementioned concessions, provisions, rescripts, sales, exchanges, as well as the ancient rights, freedoms, and immunities [---] expressed in these writings of the distinguished council office, by our royal authority, which belongs to us in such matters by supreme law, on behalf of our Majesty, should be approved, ratified, and confirmed, just as indeed, insofar as it was in accordance with the law and insofar as their custom persists, we hereby approve, ratify, and confirm with our letter, deciding that they shall obtain the power and force of perpetual durability, and each of the subject suburbanites shall be peacefully and safely maintained on the aforementioned plots according to their share and the concurrence of rights, provided, however, that they shall render the burdens and ancient rents, accepted and usually provided to the lonheria, to the same [city], and that each of them shall be obliged to perform labor, commonly called szarwarki, for one day in the month per year, and furthermore to bring sand, stones, and bricks for the repair of city walls and public roads for one day in the month, and from the remaining undue and unaccepted taxes, burdens, and services they shall be free. Military stations, commonly called żołnierszczyzna, shall be borne forever by the possessors of those plots in Biłohorszcze without any objection, equally according to the size of their property, each of them, of whatever status they might be. With the rights of our royal person, the Commonwealth, and the Church kept intact. In witness whereof, we have ordered this letter, signed by our hand, to be strengthened with the royal seal. Given in Warsaw on the 7th day of June in the year of our Lord 1635, in the third year of our reign in Poland, and the fourth in Sweden.
