It is right and just that an ecclesiastical man should honor spiritual persons, devoted to the service and duties of God, with worthy endowments and comforts. For this reason, the Illustrious and Most Reverend Lord JERZY of Giedno GIEDZIŃSKI, by the same grace Bishop of Nicopolis, Suffragan and Dean of Lviv, our VICAR IN SPIRITUAL MATTERS AND OFFICIAL, inflamed by the zeal of piety, ardently desiring to multiply the worship of God in our metropolitan church of Lviv through a more numerous presence of priests and to serve the benefit of the same church, has called for a new foundation of a prebend, that is, the GIEDZIŃSKI canonry and the prelate chancellor in the said metropolitan church, and by virtue of the dowry for the future Giedziński canon and prelate chancellor, he has recorded and testified before the office and castle acts of the Lviv starosta on the first Friday after the solemn Easter holidays in the year of the Incarnate Word one thousand six hundred and seventy-two, a sum of two thousand six hundred and forty Polish zlotys of annual rent [secured] on the principal sum of thirty-three thousand Polish zlotys, on half of the town of Bolechów with the small castle and salt mine, and on the entire villages of Bolechów Ruski, Dołżka, Cerkiewna, Roztoka, Łużek, Dobryłów, Srebrna, Braża, Sokola with the small castle in the Żydaczów district, and in particular on the entire and intact villages called Zawadka, Bołochów, and Wierzchnia, lying and existing in the Halicz land, in the Ruthenian Voivodeship... [p. 6-7: Legal formulas of redemption and obligation for the amount of 2640 PLN of annual rent from the sum of 33,000 PLN...] [p. 8:] ...The content of a certain contract concluded between the Most Reverend BISHOP of Nicopolis, Suffragan of Lviv, and the illustrious and most reverend prelates and canons and the entire Venerable Chapter of Lviv by reason of the erection of the said Giedziński canonry and prelate chancellor, reads in such order of words: Through the authority and mediation of the Most Illustrious Lord Father WOJCIECH of Pilica KORYCIŃSKI, Archbishop of Lviv, sitting at the general visitation, a certain decision was reached between the Reverend Lord Father JERZY GIEDZIŃSKI, Bishop of Nicopolis, Suffragan and Dean of Lviv, heir of the estates of Bolechów and Zawadka with appurtenances on one side, and the Reverend Lords Prelates and Canons of the Cathedral and Metropolitan Church of Lviv and the entire Lviv Chapter on the other side in this way: That the Reverend Lord Suffragan of Lviv, ratifying his former intention and the foundation of the prelatial chancellorship and canonry of the Giedziński title in the Lviv cathedral begun from a new root, established for the eternal glory of God from his paternal estate, and still unfinished for certain reasons, now brings it to a perfect effect and by this contract founds and erects the said prelatial chancellorship and canonry of the Giedziński title for himself and his successors from the house and family of the GIEDZIŃSKIS of the Prawdzic coat of arms, suitable for this dignity and duties, on his hereditary estates from a new root on the conditions described below, agreed with the Reverend Lviv Chapter. First, the Reverend Lord Suffragan of Lviv undertakes to record here in the Lviv castle for the Venerable Lviv Chapter for an annual rent of thirty-three thousand Polish zlotys, of the currency now and in time current in the Kingdom, on all his hereditary estates, and especially on the entire villages of Zawadka, Wierzchnia, and Bołochów, lying in the district and land of Halicz... The same Reverend Lord Suffragan of Lviv, together with his successors and possessors of the estates and the recorded sum, undertakes to pay forever the rent from the said sum of thirty-three thousand into the hands of the procurator of the Venerable Lviv Chapter for the dowry of the founded canon every year two thousand four hundred Polish zlotys, and for legal expenses... forty zlotys... Furthermore, the Reverend Lord Suffragan and his successors are also obliged to give to the founded chancellor through the hands of the Father Procurator of the Venerable Chapter one hundred zlotys every year... [p. 10:] ...to the father chancellor for the said general chapter before Mid-Lent. The second installment of six hundred zlotys on the Holy Trinity. And the third and final installment of six hundred and forty zlotys on the general chapter of the Nativity of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary every year he shall be obliged to pay. Third condition... Fourth condition: the right of patronage and conferring the canonry the Reverend Lord Suffragan reserves for himself for the rest of his life, and after his death [this right] shall remain with the Lords of the Lviv Chapter, with the reservation, however, that they shall always present a canon suitable and equal to the dignity from the Giedziński house of the Prawdzic coat of arms for all eternity...
