Memorial of Mayor Jan Stefan Ubaldini and the authorities of Lwów regarding the restoration of the lion on the town hall
The document commemorates the restoration of a tin weather vane in the shape of a lion, the city's coat of arms, to the tower of the Lwów town hall after it was knocked down during a storm in the period of wartime turmoil. It outlines the dramatic sieges and disasters of Lwów, offers thanksgiving for salvation, and provides a detailed list of the city's authorities, guilds, and clergy at the time.

[Monumental title at the top:]
To the one and only Savior, the Creator, for the greater glory of God Himself,
through whom all things were made,
in honor of the Most Holy MOTHER, ever VIRGIN, Immaculately CONCEIVED without the stain of original sin,
and to the glory of all the Saints and Patron Protectors of this CITY.
[Narrative text in the left column:]
Whoever reads this, let them know,
that the magnanimous name of the Lion
by the grace of many popes, emperors, kings,
and princes successfully ran
and no less happily in the capital of Rus'
since the year of Christ 1270 resided.
And when Sixtus V, Pope,
Vicar of Jesus Christ, the Lion of the tribe of Judah,
made the Ruthenian Lion the heraldic bearer of three hills topped with a star
and adorned with hills and crowned with a star, for all to see,
and when the iron sheet made in the shape of a Lion
Marcin Kampian, a consul in every way worthy of eternal memory,
on the top of the Town Hall Tower
as an indicator of changing winds placed,
through its constant turning, it gave the inhabitants a forewarning of a fate lighter than any breath of wind.
For from that time Lwów,
stripped by annual contributions and depopulated by other plagues,
by two most severe sieges
of Cossack peasants, Tatars, and Muscovites crippled,
exhausted by three enormous ransoms,
saw this same rotating Lion cast down by a gale and paying homage to the Dragon of the East.
Soon, by the order of Mehmed, the Turkish Emperor, after the capture of Kamieniec
and accepting it into his rule by capitulation,
by an army of Tatars, Dacians, Macedonians, Bulgarians, Cossacks,
and Moldavians it was most fiercely attacked.
And only thanks to the proven reason of the noble magistrate, the courage of the city estates,
by the numerous and brave [community] of the city, three centuries of infantry garrison
manfully defended. Finally, by the mercy of the King of Kings,
through the great intercession of the Mother Virgin conceived without stain,
on the anniversary of Saint Michael the Archangel, restored by the right of return to former freedom
and fanned by more favorable winds of a kinder fate,
it restored this same tin Lion to its place.
In the year of restored Salvation 1674, on the 3rd day of November,
when Clement X sat on the Chair of Peter,
Albert Koryciński managed the Ruthenian metropolis,
Leopold was the Emperor of Christians,
John III was elected KING of Poland
and after a glorious victory over the Turkish army, won a year ago at Chocim,
was again taking up arms against these same enemies.
During the mayoralty of the noble Jan Stefan de Rippa Ubaldini,
restorer of the emblems of the Town Hall Tower and royal economist
of this same City.
