Deed of sale of property with the right of redemption by Marchiò de Betta to Giovanni Gera

[Recto:] In the name of God, amen. In the year of our salvation 1674, the twelfth indiction, on the 7th day of the month of December. In Comelico di Cadore, in the house of my brother, the notary. Marchiò, son of the late Zuanne de Betta of Giera, being an undisputed debtor to the noble Mr. Giovanni Gera of Candide for the amount of 300 lire in cash, that is three hundred lire, which he confessed and declared in the presence of me, the notary, and the witnesses; and finding no other means of payment than through the sale described below, in his own name etc., in the aforementioned presence, he gave, sold, and transferred to the said Mr. Gera, acting in his own name etc., contracting, buying, and accepting, as much of his immovable property, which falls to him from his paternal inheritance, as is sufficient for the full satisfaction of the mentioned 300 lire, according to the valuation of public appraisers and [...] chosen by the said Mr. Gera. With the right of redemption for the mentioned Marchiò of the mentioned debt/amount of 300 lire within a period of 8 years, starting from today, through the return of the said sum in cash and the payment of outstanding rents and fees for the preparation of the [...] instrument. Otherwise, if in any year he were to be definitively in arrears with the rents or after the expiration of the mentioned years reserved for redemption, the said Mr. Gera, in his own name etc., based on the valuation of public appraisers, which is to take place as stated above, will be able to take possession and ownership of the appraised property without objection to satisfy his claim. Whereby the mentioned Marchiò is obliged to pay the said Mr. Gera an annual rent in cash in the amount of 6 lire per hundred on St. Martin's Day; and so they agreed, submitting for the security and guarantee of the mentioned sold property and the validation of this contract all his present and future property, immovable and movable etc. Present were Giacomo, son of the late Hieronimo Boffo, and Boffo called Duodo from Campitello, witnesses called etc. Lorenzo of Zoldo, son of the late Nicholas, Venetian notary, member of the Cadore college, transcribed the above from his books and signed for authenticity.
