Translation / modern text
Most Honorable Mayors!
Since, with God's help, we intend to arrive in Lwów as soon as possible with the troops of Her Imperial Majesty for winter quarters, we have already ordered this to be announced in the Ruthenian Voivodeship through universals entered into the castle books and published in the parishes [syntax fragment uncertain]. Therefore, we also inform you by this letter that you should now prepare all supplies of provisions and fodder in Lwów [description of preparations unreadable].
It will not be possible to plead ignorance upon our arrival. [Part of the sentence unreadable.] The city should be prepared in terms of provisions and fodder. I announce this to you, Gentlemen, and warn you [working reading], so that you do not complain later in our presence. We especially recommend this. I remain [final formula uncertain].
Radachów [Radziechów], November 28, 1734.
Ludwig, Landgrave of Hesse.
Address: Mayors of Lwów.
On the reverse, the receipt of the letter was noted; details of the annotation were not reliably deciphered.

Reading notes
All 3 pages viewed. No previous translation of 420 in local JSON files; only register and subject entries found. Signature legible as Ludovicus Landgravius Hassiae; the epithet Hessen-Homburg and the characterization as a general of the Russian army come from the cover, not from the expanded title of the letter. The place written in the date stamp is Radachów, tentatively identified as Radziechów. 9bris means November; date preserved without calendar conversion. The initial description of the unit and the final clause were not reliably deciphered; no specific threat of execution or punishment was assigned to them. The full day of receipt was not deciphered in the annotation on the reverse. The letter announces quartering, it does not prove the actual arrival or the size of the army.
