Most Illustrious and Gracious Sir!
I am sending the document confirming that the letter has been delivered to Mr. Husz. Fresh damasks, fashionable among the rent-paying merchants, can be obtained from the Jews, having bargained little from the minted thaler.
[P. 3]
You will also get various brocades and half-silks. There are also Italian tapestries, if they are not sold out beforehand. You will also get Turkish horses from the Thracians and of various breeds; it is true that they are expensive, but of the finest quality.
[P. 4]

I do not hear of any horses being available. Tomorrow there will be plenty, before the sejmik ends, because some have arrived and others are expected. In a week, God willing, the fair will be in full swing, and only after the sejmik,
[P. 5]
when all the Lords have gathered. Where, God willing, I shall also have the opportunity to kiss your feet, of whom I am a lifelong servant.
P.S. To the Most Illustrious Lady Voivodess, my Lady and Benefactress, I kiss your feet.
Your Grace's most humble servant,
J. Maitland

Reading notes
Letter from the Scottish merchant John Maitland to the Voivode of Ruthenia (Jan Stanisław Jabłonowski) written from the fair in Jarosław. It informs about the prices and availability of fabrics (damasks, brocades, half-silks, Italian tapestries) and Turkish horses before and after the sejmik and the fair. In the postscript, there are greetings for the Voivodess of Ruthenia (the recipient's wife, Joanna née Balcer, or his mother). The author's signature is written in a stylized merchant script as 'J Maitland' (in the inventory: 'Мейтленд Джон').
