Illustrious Gentlemen. How great is the benevolence we bear toward this noble City, we shall show with readiness and a willing heart, whenever opportunities arise for us to be of service to it; and in this [matter], which you have just presented to us – the endeavor to obtain from Our Holy Lord a decree regarding the cult of the pious and most glorious memory of Father Brother John of Dukla of the Order of Saint Francis of Friars Minor Observant – I shall speak about it diligently with His Holiness and with the Most Illustrious and Most Reverend Lords of the Congregation of Rites, both for the sake of the growth of piety and religion, which is expected from such a decree among the peoples there, and in order to do a favor for you, whom we hold and shall always hold as most dear.
Meanwhile, we wish you the best of health. Rome, the 1st of April 1628.
Your Brother as it were,
Cardinal Montalto [?]

Sender's signature written in very light ink; read as 'Card.lis Montaltus' (Cardinal Montalto / of the Peretti di Montalto family), which was distorted in the Ukrainian archival inventory as 'Ментальфі Матвій'. The letter concerns intercession with Pope Urban VIII and the Congregation of Rites regarding the official approval of the cult (beatification) of Fr. John of Dukla, a Bernardine. On p. 3, a trace of a wax seal.
