Noble, Illustrious and Distinguished Gentlemen,
Most Respected Patrons!
Our Alma Mater experiences a special proof of the kindness of the most noble city of Your Lordships, which, as you have long cherished, Your Lordships, you do not cease to protect the Lviv Colony incorporated into it. And so that it would not be deprived of its director, you requested of me by letter, Your Lordships, that I appoint a candidate, to which, acceding to your wishes, I would have sent him long ago. However, I could not send anyone there, hearing constant news of the plague among Your Lordships. Now, when there is certain news that, by the grace of God, the city has been freed from this danger, I appoint the excellent Master Antoni Torczyński,

For which I thank you greatly on behalf of the professors, and I also reciprocate with the kind friendship of our University, remaining
Your Lordships'

Letter from the Rector of the Krakow University, Bazyli Płaszczewski, to the authorities of Lviv regarding the filling of the position of director (rector) of the Lviv academic colony. Płaszczewski explains that the delay in sending the candidate resulted from news of the plague (pestilence) coming from Lviv. After the danger subsided, he appointed Antoni Torczyński to this position, the former senior of the school in Poznań (Lubrański Academy, a colony of the Krakow University).
