[P. 2]
Most Illustrious and Gracious Lord and Benefactor!
With my humble bow to Your Grace, my Lord and Benefactor, keeping in mind the declared favor of Your Grace, my Lord and Benefactor – the granted sub-voivodeship of Przemyśl, of which I am already certain and have announced myself with this favor of Your Grace, my Lord and Benefactor – it does not befit me to relinquish this favor, although Your Grace, my Lord and Benefactor, had certain hesitations regarding Mikołaj, my son, a well-wishing servant of Your Grace, my Lord, and because of this, there is still a delay in this favor of Your Grace, my Benefactor. I, however, have already noticed that they intend to look elsewhere and do so only with promises, and insincerely; I spoke about this with Mikołaj, who was returning from Poznań, and who, having considered it himself, leaves it to the Lord God – what God has promised,
[P. 3]
he will not miss, and he will always support Your Grace, my Benefactor. I therefore ask Your Grace, my Lord, to order this privilege to be issued from your chancellery out of your lordly grace, for although I am announced, I can do nothing without it. The Jews of Przemyśl, having been with me, congratulated me on this favor of Your Grace, my Benefactor; they suffer oppression under Your Grace, my Gracious Lord, in their afflictions which they endure from various people, and I had to give them several thousand to pay a certain debt to creditors, as they themselves admit. And when I receive this favor of Your Grace, my Lord and Benefactor, I would wish that Your Grace, my Lord and Benefactor, would assign them six servants for their safety, even for a quarter of a year, to prevent them from

acting as they please, without waiting for justice. I could indeed handle this myself, although it would have to be with envy and trouble for me, but with the authority of Your Grace, my Benefactor, I can be safe. I therefore await this favor of Your Grace, my Lord and Benefactor, and I would surely embrace Your Grace's feet myself, but I must go to the Przemyśl courts. And now, having commended myself to the benevolent grace of Your Grace, my Lord, with my services, I end, being your lifelong
In Żołynia, the 17th day of March, 1698.
I commend Mikołaj, my sincere servant of Your Grace, my Benefactor, to Your grace; for whose estate, according to my intention, have mercy, my Benefactor.
Your Grace's Lord and my Gracious Lord's
humble servant

Reading notes
The addressee is not mentioned by name in the letter itself, but the title of Voivode and General of the Ruthenian Lands clearly points to Stanisław Jan Jabłonowski (in the inventory: Jabłonowski Jan). The author is signed as Rosnowski (in the inventory A. Rosnowski). P. 1 is an inventory card.
