Gracious Sir Scribe,
My Lord and Benefactor.
Having no prior acquaintance with Your Grace, my Gracious Lord, yet having long heard in the famous city of Lviv of the great fame, humanity, and benevolence of Your Grace, my Gracious Lord, toward poor people, to whose number I also belong, I have dared to approach Your Grace, my Benefactor, with this my humble request, as a noble man and one greatly esteemed by honorable people in the Church, humbly asking Your Grace, my Gracious Lord, not to begrudge your effort and to undertake the endeavor to obtain for me from His Grace the Legate a letter for the reception of all minor and major orders from any bishop outside the canonical time, so that I might become a priest within four or five [weeks?], having included in this letter, that it be also added (for which I humbly and most earnestly ask), that I have been released from the banns, canonical irregularities, and excommunications; for Your Grace, my Gracious Lord, knows well how one must proceed in such an act, and I am not at all [...] [?]. For which I humbly ask with readiness for service, may God reward you, and later I, having stood on my own feet, should serve and repay this favor of Your Grace, my Benefactor, in every respect in due time, to which I now commit and commend myself most diligently with my humble services.
Given from Topola, October 15, 1635.
Your Grace's, my Gracious Lord and Benefactor's
humble servant and well-wisher of all good
Tomasz Sakowski,
servant of Doctor Dominik.
It came to my mind to inform Your Grace, my Gracious Lord, that I am already in my 37th year. Also, that I am from the Diocese of Chełm, near Zamość, but that matters little, for I have spent much time, namely two years, in Lviv, in [...] in the local and Starowieś schools. Thirdly, if His Grace the Legate would by no means consent to ordination outside the canonical time, then I pray to God that I be released from canonical irregularities and excommunications.
As for the expenses, I will pay them here to Mr. Szymon.
Please, send these things as soon as possible to Lviv, to Mr. Szymon at the Chancellery.
[P. 3]
[Address:]
+
To the noble and venerable man, Mr. Wojciech Zimnicki, alderman of the city of Lviv or official council scribe, my highly esteemed friend and benefactor, let this be delivered.
From Sakowski regarding [?] for dimissorial letters and dispensation for minor orders.
