[P. 2]
In Olesko, on September 27, 1688.
My Gracious Lord President of Lviv, My Gracious Lord and Friend.
The most noble magistrate should not be troubled that any complainant, as a result of intrusive efforts and on a false basis, has received a letter from His Royal Majesty; for such people—so that they do not block the path of His Majesty the King as he heads to the fortress in Austria or boards his carriage—he is accustomed to dismissing with a reprimand. However, since His Royal Majesty, even before ascending the throne, always enjoyed the reputation of the most just judge, so now, without a doubt, he has his other ear open for the other side. He listened to the report which you,
[P. 3]
my Gracious Lords, wrote down, and that information which you sent for your justification was not received unfavorably. Only that that gentleman is not idle either, for he is establishing a small fortress for the poor subjects for their safety; I could not do anything more than what you, my Gracious Lords, expected of me, namely to present more reliable information to His Royal Majesty, my gracious lord. Therefore, I commend my oral services to your Gracious Lords, the colleagues of your Grace, remaining your Grace's own
well-wishing friend and servant,
Father Adam Sarnowski,
Parish Priest of Łęczyca
[P. 4, address:]
To my Greatly Gracious Lord and Friend, His Grace Kazimierz Kozłowski, then President of Lviv.

Reading notes
Page 1 is an inventory card. The letter is on pages 2–3, the address leaf is on page 4 with a wafer seal preserved under the paper. The abbreviation next to the signature 'P. Ł.' is resolved in the inventory as parish priest of Łęczyca ('paroch łęczycki'). The King mentioned in the letter is John III Sobieski (residing, among other places, at the castle in Olesko).
