[p. 2] Mr Arthur Forbes Przemyśl, 17 November 1687 Much respected Friend, greetings. I received your kind letter of the 12th instant along with the tribunal summonses, and according to your order, I delivered them to advocate Cimanowicz and discussed with him everything concerning this matter. I told him that he had renewed his agreements with you, so I thought there was no need to summon him before the Tribunal. To this he replied that even though they might have renewed the terms, it was nonetheless necessary to summon him, and that immediately [...] he sent an apparitor to proceed with the summonses, who made his return into the castle court before departing from here. Cimanowicz instructed him to go to Podliski [?], where the man resides, and if he does not find him there, to go to Jarosław and enter the summons rather at his own expense [?] before the Przemyśl castle court or [...], that the decree was passed during the fair, and to take witnesses thereto. I enclose herewith the extract taken from the castle court. It was ready several days ago, but it was sent to the podstarosta for signature, and moreover it was detained for two days. I intended to send it yesterday by Piotr Conrad, but I did not receive it from Cimanowicz until tonight; I enquired of many for an opportunity [to send it], but found none, so I was forced to hire this messenger, as I learned that my principal is to depart from there tomorrow. The enclosed letter is from Cimanowicz, from which you will have better information. Of the expenses, I laid out no more than fifty [groschen?] for the suscepta and half a thaler for the apparitor: 2 florins 15 groschen [...]. As I gave nothing to Cimanowicz, I shall likewise wait with this until my principal returns home, as he will be satisfied with a smaller amount [...]. I hired this messenger for 1 florin, of which I paid him 15 groschen, and please be so kind as to order the rest to be paid to him upon receipt of this. So, troubling you no further, but commending you and all your affairs to divine guidance, I remain, Sir, your most humble servant at command, David Livingston [in his own hand] [p. 3, address:] To Mr Arthur Forbes, merchant in Mostyska
