Translation / modern text

[P. 2] Most Gracious Mr. Wachlowicz, My long-time Gracious Lord and great Friend! I sincerely regret that I did not know when Your Grace, my Gracious Lord, was departing from Lviv to Lublin to collect the money which, having lain there for so long, His Grace the Starosta of Łomża has collected. For I would have asked Your Grace, my Gracious Lord, that through your efforts you might extract the remainder that stayed with him, that is 1704 zlotys and 24 groszy. For His Grace had given me such an assurance that he was to pay me in full 13,704 zlotys and 24 groszy. From which sum nothing has arrived in full, but with His Grace, my Gracious Lord, 4704 zlotys remained. Therefore, I greatly ask Your Grace, my Gracious Lord, that Your Grace would deign to engage in this and ask His Grace the Starosta to send me this remainder through Your Grace, my Gracious Lord. Although my proxy, whom I sent to His Grace, diligently asked him to pay me the full sum as His Grace had promised, yet nothing came of it; and I had a promise from His Grace and a letter signed by His Grace's own hand that the entire sum was to arrive. Whatever effort Your Grace, my Gracious Lord, wishes to undertake in pursuing this poor property of mine, for that, as long as I live, I shall be beholden to Your Grace, my Gracious Lord, and with every kind of gratitude I shall be bound to reward and compensate Your Grace, my Gracious Lord. And now, with my former services, I humbly commend myself to the grace of Your Grace, my Gracious Lord, and I greatly ask that Your Grace would deign to keep me in it. Given in Lviv on the eleventh day of May in the Year of Our Lord 1650. Your Grace's, my Gracious Lord's, old well-wishing friend and humble servant Jan Traszko [Fraszko?] [P. 3, address:] To my Most Gracious Lord and Friend, His Grace Mr. Jędrzej Wachlowicz, councilor and burgher of Lviv, my most gracious Lord and Patron, etc. etc., to be delivered urgently.

Reading notes

The sender's surname is written in a difficult hand; the most likely reading is Jan Traszko (possibly Fraszko / Eraszko; considered illegible in the inventory). The inventory incorrectly interpreted the recipient as Andrzej (in the address: Jedrzey / Jędrzej Wachlowicz, although these are variant forms of the same name).
