Translation / modern text
Honourable and esteemed Gentlemen, our respected Friends!
Greetings and every good wish.
We send the bearers of this letter, the noble Marcin Chodowski [?], our starosta of Złoczów, and Jakub Nosowski [?], our servants. We have instructed them to withdraw and collect a certain sum of money deposited with you by the late noble Andrzej Nakuski [?], wojski of Lubaczów and administrator of our estates in Ruthenia.
We have further instructed them, upon receiving the money, to give you, if necessary, a receipt on our behalf in full legal form.
We therefore ask you to show goodwill by paying and handing over this money to our aforementioned servants. Whenever an opportunity arises, we shall endeavour to reciprocate this service with particular diligence. We wish you good health.
Given in Kraków, on Oculi Sunday [?], in the year of Our Lord 1553.
Łukasz, Andrzej and Stanisław, counts of Górka, by their own hands.
Address: to the mayor and councillors of the city of Lviv, our respected friends.

Reading notes
All three pages were viewed. One letter with an address, without enclosures; earlier local matches concern catalogue entries only. The three authors sign jointly. The amount of the deposit is not stated. The messengers’ names and that of the deceased administrator require checking, as do the abbreviated title of the starosta and the word before servitores. The dating clause is provisionally read as Oculi Sunday; no calendar date has been calculated. The cover gives March 1553. The translation does not confirm that payment actually took place. The transcription expands some abbreviations and is not a diplomatic edition.
