Translation / modern text

Esteemed Mr Clerk! The king is not leaving soon. I am sending money through my court under-equerry. Please have work continue on the walls and put other tasks aside for now. Bringing the house into proper condition is more urgent; the other things can also be done in winter. If money should run short now, please advance it temporarily so that the workers do not stand idle. I shall certainly send money through the brother. Please send the letter on to Mr Wociakowski [?]. I commend myself to your favour. I shall write more fully about everything in another letter. Sieciechów, 9 September 1634. Your affectionate friend and servant, Stanisław Grochowski, Archbishop of Lviv. Address: Wojciech Zimnicki, Lviv town clerk.

7bris means September. The surname Wociakowski remains uncertain even after comparison with the copy; it has not been normalised to Wojciechowski. No amount is given, and completion of a transfer or loan is not established. In suo esse is rendered as bringing the building into proper condition, without adding a specific technical stage.

Scope of the edition: Working transcription and translation; uncertain passages marked, text compared with a later copy.
