Translation / modern text

Mr Arthur Forbes! Łysogór [?], 2 May 1692. Sir, I received your letter. As requested, I have [unread action] all these taffetas for His Majesty. Today I packed them on my wagon among my own goods. I received both [packages?; wording uncertain]. With God’s help I shall try to deliver them to Tarnów in good time. I intend to begin my journey today, even if only a mile or two out of town. Formerly the journey from here to Tarnów took me two weeks, but I am now somewhat more heavily laden, so it may take a day or two longer. Please arrange for your goods to be in Tarnów around the 18th or 19th of this month; I hope they will find me there, God granting health and a safe journey. I received no “perlin” [trimmings?] on your account. It is scarce and expensive: the ordinary kind costs up to twenty [unit unread] and is still hard to obtain. There is no news here yet. May God grant comforting news in His own good time. I commend you, yours and all friends to His care. Your devoted and ever well-wishing friend, ready to serve, Alex Huisone. Address: Arthur Forbes, merchant, in Lviv.

Reading notes

The year 1692 and 2 May are clear; the place is uncertain and retained provisionally without geolocation. Kings Majestie is in the original; neither the monarch’s identity nor evidence of court receipt was added. Packing the goods and planning delivery were distinguished from confirmation of arrival. The word for the received packages and the price unit remain unread. All pages 20–39 were examined: nine letters with addresses and one separate receipt with a blank reverse.
