[P. 2]
Most Illustrious and Most Prudent Sir,
Most Venerable Sir and Patron.
I thank Your Grace, my Gracious Lord, very much for having pity on my widowhood. Only the Lord God knows how constricted my heart is until I finish all these matters. My efforts are known to men; that I do not achieve the desired result in everything is not within my power. Ruling human hearts and directing their will belongs to the Lord God Himself. The matters with the Armenians and with Bojchowicz are already concluded; there remains the one with the Mniszek family, with whom, on behalf of the city, I trust it will go well; they have been asked by me for their support. I have also submitted a petition to His Majesty the King, from whom I have also heard kind words. I leave the rest to the Lord God, whom I heartily ask to deign to bless me in this, so that I may finally be freed from unnecessary torments. My grief does not allow me to write more; I prefer to report orally to my Gracious Lord. I am keeping that letter with me for certain reasons, and also at this time Father Komorowski is not at His Majesty's Court; I am waiting for him myself. I tried to sound out that man from afar, but I could not understand anything reliable. His very facial expression aroused some suspicions in me, and therefore I passed over it in silence, and I will keep these letters, sealed as they are, with me just in case. I wrote there to His Grace Mr. Zimorowicz regarding certain private matters; now I ask that His Grace forgive me for not being able to write to him. There are serious reasons for this, and not the least is that I have a guest in my apartment at this time. I am working most faithfully on the matter of my Gracious Lord, entrusted to Mr. Stefan, but today it could not be settled. It will be settled. [...] I commend myself to the good will of my Gracious Lord. In Warsaw, January 20, 1641.
Your Grace's, my Gracious Lord's
Devoted servant
