[P. 43]
Most Illustrious Lord Voivode of Ruthenia,
My Great Lord and Brother!
I have received Your Grace's letter dated October 26. I did not fail—since fate did not allow me to participate closely in the day of this joy—to accompany it with prayers, wishing both Your Grace, my Benefactor, and all the younger ones infinite blessings from Heaven. After the wedding toils and the laborious work at the commission, the Sejm is approaching, from which—as I suppose—Your Grace will no longer be able to excuse yourself, and thus it will fall to me to cordially embrace Your Grace. Although the Lithuanian consensus, broken by the unfortunate fate of the Commonwealth, bodes nothing good—unless the remedy proposed in the instructions for the Sejm heals all the diseases of the Commonwealth, for which I will fervently pray to the Lord God during the jubilee taking place in the month of November. And now, having nothing else to report, I most urgently commend myself to the unchanging brotherly grace of Your Grace and remain in Lidzbark, on the 5th of November in the year 1701.
Your Grace's
faithful brother and always well-wishing servant
Andrzej, Bishop of Warmia, Chancellor of the Crown [autograph]
